I just happened to find your website when searching for the Greenleaf Oils and have ordered from you twice. I am very pleased with the fast delivery and great prices. I also love getting the little samples that you include in my order. It’s nice to know that you are pretty “local” also! Keep up the good work-I’m telling my friends about you!

Wilma’s Simmer Oil recommendations

Here’s an email from Wilma in Montana:

********************
I did look at your blog and your store is so very tasteful. It will be a favorite stopping off place for many people, I’m sure, as they find out about it.

Did I tell you - I found out where the little simmering pot I found was available and ordered two more of them. I’m covered for quite awhile. I don’t use them as much in the summertime…..but will be ordering simmering oil again one of these days. It’s always odd to me how some scents last longer than others. These pots are small and do not get overly hot. The scents lasting the longest are Apple Jack and Peel; Christmas Memories, Original and Wisteria. The others seem to evaporate more quickly. Just thought this might be useful information for you.

Good Night from Montana……

I have emailed Wilma to share the make and model of her great electric simmer pot. I’ll post it here when I hear back from her.

Here is Wilma’s response rec’d 5/29/07:

Bet -

This is the information regarding the item I finally found which I use for a simmering pot with your Fresh Bet Simmering Oils. You may not want to post this on your blog, since you’ll find it to be a bit confusing.

The item is like a very small, decorative crock-pot. I believe when I measured it holds two cups of water. There are no controls on it, it just plugs in and gets to a certain temperature level which is not as hot as a crock pot. I place mine on my burner unit in the kitchen for safety reasons, as I don’t want it making marks on furniture or such.

This item is “not” intended to be a simmering pot, it was listed in the website site as a “Mixer Melter”. There are small squares of various fragrances of waxes which are sold to be used with it. These squares, two to three, are put into the pot and when it is plugged in and warmed enough the melted wax gives a fragrance throughout the house, according to the information in the website.

I prefer Fresh Bet Simmering Oils to using the wax. I fill it with the most hot water possible out of my faucet and plug it in. I am using about 3-4 tablespoons of the simmering oil with each full pot. It does not get as hot as a crock-pot, which is why it works. The water does finally evaporate and it has to be refilled and more simmering oil added.

I don’t always wash and clean it between fillings….as it works okay to just keep adding water and oil for 3-4 days. Then I finally pour the leftover water/oil mixture into empty coffee cans or jars. I hesitate to pour this down the drain, as I think the oil would eventually build up on the pipes.

This is the company name which is shown on the bottom of the pot I purchased locally:

Tyler Candle Co.

I just did a search for this company and at this time found the site and it said it is “under construction”. But in doing some further searching of sites which sold Tyler products, I finally found one where this Mixer Melter was shown. There was the exact pattern I had bought, and some other choices of patterns.

I ordered two additional pots which were $16.95 each, plus S&H.

I had an email message right after I placed the order, but I disposed of the email message and just saved the invoice which was in the box and the items actually came from a company called, DCB Collectibles.

I did a search for DCB Collectibles just now and, at least in my search, none of these waxer melters were shown, just all kinds of collectible candles. Big Mystery?????

I often order things on the web…..and when the shipment arrives it is from a company of an entirely different name than where I did the ordering. But it is the item I ordered. So far I haven’t researched or delved into this too much, for lack of time and because I did get the items ordered.

The web at times is kind of a mystery to me????

I’m sure you or one of the women who works for you who may be very computer savvy, could find out more about the Tyler Candle Company and find this item on their site….and also find out why this item doesn’t show up on the DCB Collectibles website page since this is where my invoice shows shipping to be from this company?????

One last thought….I have been looking at Tyler Candles now for several years. Coincidentally, I have an appointment with their Rep next week. These are beautiful and strong candles made in Texas. The fragrance names have “attitude” and are kinda cute. So…maybe we’ll add them to our offering eventually!

Thanks to Wilma for ‘thinking outside the box’ when it came to using a wax tart melter for her simmering oils! The bowl must be quite large on her model to hold 2 cups of liquid. Our wax melters by Greenleaf & Levine are shallow bowls that hold several wax tarts. With the Greenleaf warmer, you can remove the bowl and place a wickless candle on top.

Email Bet if you are interested in our carrying Tyler Candles.
