While attending July Market, we stopped by the WoodWicks showroom to place our Winter order. I had received the new catalog just a week or two prior. I noticed there were no more Old Virginia candles shown in their catalog.

After looking around the showroom and talking with our Rep; she confirmed that Old Virginia has dropped their line of candles. This fine old company is now going to focus all their energy on their more current line of WoodWicks and new Olive Oil Organics. We just recently started selling the Olive Oil Organics Tin Candles, and they are wonderful.

All of our Old Virginia Wax Tarts will eventually be replaced by new WoodWick Tarts. The price has increased by 50 cents each. All of the classic WoodWick scents will now be available in tarts.

So, if you know an Old Virginia candle fan, tell them to stock up now; because soon we will be seeing only WoodWick scents as we move into 2009.

We have sold this fine line of 100% palm oil wax designer candles now for 3-4 years. Personally, these are my favorites to burn on my desk while working. The scent is wonderful with good throw, simply perfect for an average bedroom size room.

Last year Wesson Garrett, the co-owner of Isola Luce told me they would no longer offer the Bali Beach version. However, he did say they would continue to make this style available to Fresh Bet. The difference is the packaging. While I realize many folks love their beautiful silk-padded luxurious boxes; it is my preference to pay a bit less and not have such a beautiful box which I may eventually discard.

The Bali Beach version is 9 oz in beautiful frosted glass with a simple corrugated box. We are able to sell these for $24.00 vs. $30 for the West Palm Beach packaging. They also offer a 5 oz candle in Maui packaging for $18.00. I consider the Bali Beach to be the best value and this is why we only stock this size.

Well, as much as I love these candles, the sales have dropped off for us over the past 6 months. Typically this is an indicator they we should drop the line. So, I placed many of the scents on clearance to close out our stock. Lo and behold, as has happened so many times before for me, the sales picked up and it seems our customers don’t want us to drop the line.

This is what has happened with the Island Romance scent (one of my personal faves); thus we have ordered more and will continue to stock only the better selling scents in this line. We will continue to clear out the slow movers. So, if you haven’t tried an Isola Luce candle – please indulge yourself! You will not be disappointed.
